Economic Impact Study

West Virginia University’s Bureau of Business and Economic Research recently completed a study showing the positive economic impact BrickStreet Insurance had on West Virginia during calendar year 2007. This is the third of four articles that highlight the bureau's findings.

The study showed that BrickStreet's direct impact from its operations totaled more than $94 million. These expenditures in turn generated $91.6 million of business volume in other West Virginia businesses for a total business volume impact of $185.8 million dollars.

The impact of BrickStreet's operations produced $49 million in employee compensation and nearly $2.9 million in assorted state taxes.

This economic activity of BrickStreet's operations secured 1,245 jobs in the state, 465 jobs directly with BrickStreet and 780 jobs with other West Virginia businesses.

Since 1948, the Bureau has provided reliable data, analysis and forecasts to the public and private sector. The Bureau's areas of research proficiency include economic development and impact studies, economic forecasting, industry studies, energy and environmental policy, benchmarking, the labor market, public finance, international studies, and tourism.

More thorough coverage of BrickStreet's economic impact study will be included in the next issue of InSide BrickStreet. The entire study can be found at www.brickstreet.com.
