Schedule Rating Changes

The July 1 opening of West Virginia's workers' compensation market brought about additional changes for BrickStreet policyholders. One such change affects accounts with less than $10,000 in annual premium.

Previously, BrickStreet applied debits or credits to all policies at or above the minimum premium level of $750. The process, known as "schedule rating," was based on 13 characteristics.

Now, for policies renewing from July 1 forward, BrickStreet has adopted the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) Basic Manual Schedule Rating Plan, which contains seven characteristics that can be considered to determine whether a schedule debit or credit can be applied.

In addition, the eligibility for schedule rating now begins at $5,000 manual premium, rather than $750. A policy that may have been eligible for schedule rating under the previous plan may no longer be eligible because of the higher threshold.
